18th Annual Best of West Virginia
Tamarack Marketplace proudly presents the “18th Annual Best of West Virginia Open Juried Exhibition” – a statewide celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and Mountain State pride. This special exhibition is the only one of its kind in our fine arts gallery, open to all West Virginia residents – not just our regularly juried artists. It’s a showcase of the state’s rich artistic talent, brought together in a spirited competition for cash prizes and statewide recognition. And you get a say, too! Visitors are invited to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award, to be announced at the close of the show. So come explore, be inspired, and vote for your favorite piece – because in West Virginia, art belongs to everyone.
Eligibility:
- This exhibition is open to all artists who currently reside in West Virginia. You do not need to be juried into Tamarack Marketplace to enter. You will be asked to produce proof of residency.
- All submitted works must be original and created within the last two (2) years. Work previously exhibited in a gallery exhibition organized by Tamarack or in the print bins on Tamarack’s retail floor is ineligible.
- Due to space limitations, large (over 6'x6') or multi-piece artworks may not be accepted. Exceptions are possible.
- We are unable to display nude figure studies or graphic imagery.
Dates and Deadlines:
- Exhibition Run: May 16th – July 26th
- Image Submission Deadline: March 14th – April 11th
- Decision Notifications (sent via email): April 15th
- Drop Off Deadline for Accepted Work: May 2nd
- Opening Reception: May 16th from 1 – 3PM in the Gallery
- Work Pick Up Deadline: August 16th
Entry Fee A non-refundable fee of $30.00 is required from each submission (limit of one submission per artisan) of up to two works per submission. You will be asked to pay your entry fee using the Credit Card/PayPal option at the end of this form. If you are a multidisciplinary artist and you would like to submit artworks in multiple media categories, each media is required to be submitted under its own application. For instance, if you would like to submit a photograph and a wood carving, then you must submit one application for your photography, then complete an application for your carving (two submissions - one entry per submission in this case).
Artisans are limited to two works TOTAL to submit for consideration. This is to insure fairness between artisans mastered in multiple mediums and artisans that are mastered in one. In the event of an artisan submitting more than two works total they will be asked to chose two pieces from those submitted prior to notifications of acceptances.
Sales Terms: All work sold by the Gallery is on a consignment basis with a commission split of 40% to Tamarack and 60% to the artist. All work must be labeled for sale.

Here are Tamarack Marketplace we are looking for new and exciting works to fill our consignment spaces. These spaces consist of areas in our Conference Center, Theatre Lobby, and various walls throughout our Retail areas where your work could have the chance to hang for a longer extension that our Gallery's exhibitions.
We are looking to obtain work that appeals to the Spring and Summer season of the Appalachian Mountains. This can be subjects ranging from the new blossoms of spring to the lush, green hills of summer, a memorable trip to the lake or an afternoon in the garden, or even nature's critters themselves celebrating their own joys of the season. Bring all your frames of the season for this chance to have your work featured in our extended collection!
This collection will run through the Spring & Summer months of 2026.
